Nokaoi Maui Magazine is an illustrated quarterly magazine about life on Maui Island, Hawaii. No ka ‘oi means “the best” on Hawaiian. Maui No Ka ‘Oi is the magazine for people who love Maui. The information aspects covered are Restaurants, Events, News, Culture, Vacation Planning.

We created extremely new and usable web 2.0 solution. The magazine contains 100s of articles and photos - everything is easily edited with editorial staff.


 

 

But readers are also involved in content authoring: all stories, restaurants and even whole magazine issues are rated by readers:

 

Reader can write comments and post reports on comments.

 

All stories and events are editable by authenticated website administrators directly on website frontend pages.  By clicking on a small icon in the top left corner, all stories become editable. Special mark-up pseudo-tags make it possible for authors to divide stories by pages, insert advertisements and photos.

 

Authenticated website administrators can also easily manage story comments. 2 options are available: delete or just hide unwanted comment from the website.
Each website visitor has opportunity to report the offensive comment. Reports are delivered to website administrators by email.

Website allows subscribing to offline magazine version with secure payment solution.

 

 

There are already 12 issues available online at www.nokaoimagazine.com so far. This page enables navigation between the issues as well as rate any issue:

 

Navigation within the stories is easier than ever because of using special quick preview callout control. Just hover your mouse on a story headline in the right navigation column and you will see the photo and short description of the story:

 

Extensive RSS support helps to deliver magazine's content to other websites and to browser toolbars:

 

If most part of the website is the online copy of the magazine, Web Exclusive section provides the content that can not be delivered to offline readers, like audio and video. Streaming media player based on Flash video was created for this section:
